ABOUT
Her Story
Kozue was born in Japan and has always loved playing in nature and feeling deeply connected to the world around her. This way of experiencing life—slowing down, feeling, and being present with nature—has remained an important part of who she is and how she lives today. Her first experience traveling abroad came when she was in high school, sparking a curiosity about the world beyond Japan. She later went on to study languages abroad, travel as a backpacker. After traveling around the world and across Japan with her husband, she eventually made Canada her home.In 2024, a period of physical and emotional difficulty led Kozue to turn her attention inward and explore her inner world more deeply. In 2025, through this process of self-reflection, she returned to something she had loved as a child: painting.Through art, she began to remember the feeling of being deeply connected with herself. From there, her exploration expanded beyond painting into body-based practices, breath, and the connection between awareness and physical sensation—learning to listen more closely to what her body and inner sense were communicating.Today, Kozue creates intuitive paintings and facilitates workshops that invite people to connect with their own existence through art and embodied experience—to remember the sense of openness, possibility, and home that already exists within them. She believes we are here to experience the beauty of this world—to feel, to create, to connect, and to live fully. If her art can become a small doorway for someone to reconnect with themselves and remember their own light, that is what brings her the greatest joy.CREATIVE PROCESS
Her work begins with listening inward—allowing what cannot always be seen or explained to slowly emerge through the body, color, and movement. At the heart of her practice is a simple intention:
to touch our own existence and return to who we truly are.She believes there is something within us that has always been there. When we pause, feel, and reconnect with that inner presence, we begin to remember ourselves—not as who we are expected to be, but simply as who we are.Through her paintings and live painting, Kozue hopes to create moments where people can slow down, feel, and reconnect with themselves. To be fully who we are.
And if that presence becomes a light for someone else, that is her greatest joy.
